FEBT July/August Rockhill Restoration Work Session – Announcement and Signup

The FEBT next Rockhill Restoration Work Session is coming up July 31-August 1. Saturday work hours will be from 9 am to 5 pm. Sunday work hours will be from 9 am to 4 pm.

To reserve a seat for breakfast, for a donation, served at 8am at the Iron Rail B&B contact David at trolley@innernet.net before Thursday. Seats must be reserved ahead of time. Other local restaurants are available for lunch and dinner.

Projects we will be working on:


Interior wood work and window installation will continue. If the bolster plate can be reinstalled, then flooring in the passenger section can be installed. Tools to bring: tape measure, pencil, hearing protection, eye protection. Up to 6 volunteers can work on the Combine.


The concrete floor is done. Batten strips will need ripped and installed. The gutter can be finished. Bring with you cordless tools, tape measure, marking device, gloves, hard hat if you have one. There are extra hard hats in the Paint Shop. Up to 6 people can work on the Carpenter shop.


Woodford Bros. has raised the building out of the rot. Now there is a lot of cleanup to get ready for a concrete floor. Dave is looking for 6 volunteers.


Some sashes need a fresh coat of white paint. New sashes need glass installed. Always plenty of work to be done. Bring old clothes with you, and gloves. Paint and supplies provided. Eight people can work on windows.


Scrape and wire brush loose paint from the Rockhill shop buildings to get them ready for red paint. Others will begin painting. Bring gloves, eye protection, dust masks. Up to 8 can prep for paint.


Two volunteers are needed to help with repairs to one of EBT’s boxcars. Jobs include torch and plasma cutting steel, grinding, welding, and a lot of sweating.


Help Gene finish track work out at Colgate Grove. Up to 10 volunteers. Hard hats are required, extras are in the paint shop if you do not have one.


Help Julie save EBT documents from the store houses/farm house and store them for safe keeping. Julie is looking for 4 volunteers for Saturday.


You must be 18 and a member of the FEBT ( or join at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly.
