FEBT February Rockhill Restoration Work Session – Announcement and Signup

The FEBT February Rockhill Restoration Work Session is coming up February 20-21. Saturday work hours will be from 9 am to 5 pm. Sunday work hours will be from 9 am to 4 pm.

WEATHER

MEALS

To reserve a seat for breakfast, for a donation, served at 8am at the Iron Rail B&B contact David at trolley@innernet.net before Thursday. Local restaurants are available for lunch and dinner.

Due to the Covid 19 virus, FEBT and the East Broad Top Foundation would like all volunteers to provide their own PPE (face masks, gloves, sanitizer). FEBT will have some supplies at the Paint shop for those that need them.

Projects we will be working on:

COMBINE 14

Interior wood work and window installation will continue. Tools to bring: tape measure, pencil, hearing protection, eye protection. Up to 6 volunteers can work on the Combine.

CARPENTER SHOP

Woodford Brothers will be nearly finished with righting the building. Now the process of making the building useful can begin. Siding will need repaired, doors made, broken windows made safe. Bring with you hand tools, gloves, steel toed shoes, hard hat if you have one. There are extra hard hats in the Paint Shop. Up to 12 people can work on the Carpenter shop.

TRACK GANG

Track work will continue in the yard and mainline. Bring gloves, hearing protection, eye protection, steel toed shoes, water bottle.
Required to be worn at all times trackside:

  • Required
    • Hard hats
    • Safety glasses
    • Full face shields when using the cutoff saw to cut bolts or rail, etc.
  • Recommended
    • Steel-toed boots
  • Optional (not required)
    • Safety vests
    • Hearing protection

Hard hats are available in the Paint Shop. Ten people can work on track.

SAND HOUSE

The contents of the sand house will need to be relocated to make room for the sprinkler system being installed at the EBTRR. A couple of pickup trucks and up to 8 helpers to move the contents are needed.

Details

You must be 18 and a member of the FEBT ( or join at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly.
