The Friends of the East Broad Top Museum in Robertsdale operates two, four-seat railbikes on approximately 1.5 miles of track on grades up to 2.5%. The track goes from the historic company square almost to the next town of Wood. The ride is intended to be a tour of the coal mine area, so there are several stops along the way. These stops are not just photo ops, but time to catch your breath on the grade. This is a fun way to experience the East Broad Top from the locomotive’s point-of-view!
Rides are free, but donations are happily accepted. We do have a few rules:
- You must sign a waiver of liability at the museum prior to riding.
- There is a 300 lb. limit per seat.
- You must be able to reach the pedals, approx. 24-inch inseam.
- You must let us know of any medical condition which may be worsened by strenuous exercise.
- You must ride with a host from the museum.
The railbikes operate on any Saturday when the museum is open, weather permitting. Come back many times to see the view during every season!
