FEBT Restoration – Turntable

During most of the East Broad Top’s operations, the only turntable was at the roundhouse in Rockhill Furnace. The current turntable, built by Strobel Steel, was purportedly a New York Central turntable purchased secondhand and cut down for use by the EBT. Whether true or not, the turntable has been at the EBT since around the 1920s. The turntable was used throughout the common-carrier and tourist eras and is in use to this day. FEBT volunteers were asked to help repaint the turntable’s girder bridge. The girders were power washed, primed and painted EBT Boxcar Red. The Strobel Steel builders’ plate was then highlighted in white.
